Mission
At Hear Room, our mission is to help people access communication and participate more confidently in everyday life.
We begin by understanding each person’s hearing needs, listening environments and communication goals. Our recommendations may include hearing rehabilitation, hearing aids, assistive listening technology, communication strategies or improvements to the listening environment.
For schools, workplaces and organisations, we bring together audiology expertise and practical technology knowledge to support more accessible learning, working and community spaces.
From initial advice through to training and ongoing support, we focus on solutions that suit the people using them.
Meet Jim Russell

Principal Hearing Rehabilitation Audiologist | Founder of Hear Room
Jim Russell has worked in audiology since 2003, bringing more than two decades of experience across hearing care, hearing rehabilitation and assistive listening technology.
His career includes private practice and wholesale hearing technology, including his previous role as National Roger Manager for Phonak Australia.
This experience gives Jim a practical understanding of how hearing aids, personal listening devices and classroom hearing systems can work together.
Since founding Hear Room in 2019, Jim has provided independent advice and support to individuals, families, schools, workplaces and organisations. He also works with architects, electrical engineers and government teams to plan more accessible listening environments.
His areas of focus include hearing rehabilitation, educational audiology, classroom acoustics, assistive listening technology, hearing augmentation and captioning solutions.
His work extends from identifying communication needs and recommending technology through to commissioning, training and ongoing support.
Jim holds a Master’s in Clinical Audiology and Hearing Therapy. His approach centres on understanding each person’s goals and finding practical ways to improve communication, participation and independence.
