Our goal is simple: helping you hear with confidence in everyday life.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a hearing test?

If you're asking people to repeat themselves, struggling in background noise, increasing the television volume or experiencing tinnitus, a professional hearing assessment can help identify the cause.  It is also required to provide you personalised advice and solutions.

Are hearing aids my only option?

Not always. Many people benefit from assistive listening technology such as remote microphones, Auracast™ devices, TV listening systems or workplace communication solutions, either with or without hearing aids.

    Do you provide independent advice?

Absolutely. We provide educational audiology, classroom soundfield systems, hearing augmentation design, workplace accessibility advice and professional development throughout Australia.

    Do you provide independent advice?

A hearing assessment includes a discussion about your hearing concerns, an examination of your ears, hearing testing and a detailed explanation of your results. If hearing loss is identified, we'll explain your options and provide independent recommendations tailored to your lifestyle and communication needs.

    Do I need hearing aids?

Not necessarily. Every person's hearing needs are different. Some people benefit from hearing aids, while others may find assistive listening technology, communication strategies or environmental changes provide the greatest improvement. We'll recommend the most appropriate solution based on your hearing, lifestyle and goals.

What brands of hearing aids do you work with?

As an independent provider, Hear Room isn't tied to a single manufacturer. We recommend hearing aid technology based on your individual hearing needs rather than brand preference, ensuring you receive the most appropriate solution.

    What is assistive listening technology?

Assistive listening technology includes devices that improve speech understanding in situations where hearing aids alone may not be enough. These solutions include remote microphones, TV listening systems, meeting microphones, classroom technology, Auracast™ devices and workplace communication systems.

    What is Auracast™?

Auracast™ is the next generation of Bluetooth® audio broadcasting. It allows compatible hearing aids, cochlear implants, earbuds and smartphones to receive clear audio directly from televisions, public venues, meeting rooms and other broadcast systems without the need for traditional hearing loops.

This emerging technology is expected to significantly improve hearing accessibility in public spaces over the coming years.

    Do you help schools?

Yes. Hear Room works closely with schools, early learning centres and education providers to improve communication in learning environments. We provide classroom soundfield systems, educational audiology services, assistive listening technology, hearing accessibility advice and professional development for teachers and support staff.

Do you design hearing augmentation systems?

Yes. Hear Room provides independent advice on hearing augmentation systems for architects, builders, consultants and organisations. We assist with the design and selection of technologies such as Auracast™, hearing loop systems and other communication accessibility solutions.

    Where are you located?

Hear Room is based in Brisbane and supports clients throughout South East Queensland. We also provide consultation, technology advice and hearing accessibility services for organisations across Australia.

Can I book an appointment online?

Yes. Appointments can be booked online or by contacting our team directly. We'll help you find the most appropriate service based on your needs.

Do you provide workplace hearing solutions?

Absolutely. We help workplaces improve communication for employees with hearing loss through assistive listening technology, meeting room solutions, hearing augmentation systems and workplace accessibility assessments.
